What is Fitsafe Technology?

FitSafe is a specialised tank-retrofitting and live-broaching system used for underground fuel tank upgrades, allowing new entry points to be created in existing fuel storage tanks.

The technology enables new fittings and equipment to be safely incorporated into existing fuel infrastructure, helping operators modernise their sites while continuing to use their current tanks.

How the Fitsafe Process Works

1. Site Assessment

Nqpetro assesses the existing underground tank, proposed modification and site conditions to determine the most suitable approach.

2. Tank Preparation

The broaching area is thoroughly cleaned and prepared before the Fitsafe plate is securely installed. Fitsafe combines mechanical and chemical fixing methods to create a secure, leak-free seal before broaching begins

3. Controlled Tank Broaching

Trained and accredited Nqpetro technicians use specialised Fitsafe equipment to safely broach into the existing tank. LEL and oxygen monitoring, combined with the use of water and nitrogen purging, help manage hazardous vapours and maintain safe conditions throughout the process, providing a safe and proven method for creating new tank entry points.

4. Equipment Installation

The new fitting, pipework connection or automatic tank gauge equipment is installed and securely integrated into the existing fuel system.

5. Testing and Completion

The completed installation is tested, inspected and documented before the system is returned to service.
