Retail fuel system installation
Matt Logan
A complete fuel system for a new retail site.
Over three months, Nqpetro supplied, installed and commissioned the fuel system for the new Pearl Energy service station at the Virginia Retail Warehouse Centre in North Brisbane.
Led by Project Manager Matt Logan, our team installed underground storage and dispensing equipment to supply five fuel products. The scope also included oily water separation, independent tank and line testing, and fuel system calibrations.

Coordinating installation on a complex site.
The new service station formed part of a large industrial development with multiple buildings and tenancies. Installation of the underground fuel system required careful coordination of excavations, crane operations and machinery movements, managed closely with Hutchinson Builders. Wet weather and curing concrete restricted site access, while positioning the oily water separator near existing underground infrastructure required carefully timed and coordinated excavation.
Tested and commissioned for retail operation.
Third-party tank and line integrity testing was completed before and after burial as part of the fuel system installation at Pearl Energy Virginia.
Pre-bury testing checks tanks, pipework and connections while they remain accessible. Identifying potential leaks at this stage allows issues to be addressed before backfilling and paving make access more difficult.
Post-bury testing provides a further check for integrity issues that may have arisen during backfilling and surrounding construction works. Together, these stages help verify the condition of the underground fuel system before it enters service.
Nqpetro then completed fuel system calibrations and final commissioning to Pearl Energy’s requirements, preparing the site to supply five fuel products for retail operation.
A new refuelling stop for North Brisbane.
The new Pearl Energy service station provides a convenient refuelling stop along a major arterial route, serving motorists travelling through this busy North Brisbane corridor.
The project demonstrates Nqpetro’s capability to deliver service station fuel infrastructure within a complex construction site, supported by experienced technicians and close collaboration with the builder.
Thank you to Chris Kolera, Jack Munro-Henry, Chris Bell and Jason Van Der Zweep for their work throughout the project, and to Hutchinson Builders for their coordination and collaboration.
